Should we hold flipping properties in a numbered company

by Tina de Freitas
(Calgary, AB)

Hi, we are looking at flipping a house with our son and possibly doing more of it in the future. We live in Calgary. My question is around tax. If we want to flip houses should we have a numbered company? What is the best way to give less tax to our Canadian government:}.
Thanks,
Tina

Should we hold flipping properties in a numbered company

Hey Tina,

Using corporations for investing can definitely have tax benefits but it will depend on a number of factors specific to your personal situation.

Plus, the federal government just made some recent changes to laws around using corporations to invest.

So your best bet is to check with your accountant, outline your long-term plans, and they should be able to outline the best setup for what you, specifically, are trying to do.
