At the end of our recent Income for Life "Members Only" event we handed out pictures to all members and it caused a bit of a stir. It's not every day you have your picture taken with a life size card board cut out of Gene Simmons. Why did we do something so crazy/silly/ridiculous?

Well when we decided to start our own real estate brokerage we didn't want it to be "just another real estate company". We're different, we only work with real estate investors.

And we're working together with our members for a specific purpose....to build wealth so that you can live your life on your terms.

We call it "living your rockstar life".

And your rockstar life is unique to you.

It may be reading a book by a lake up north (that's closer to my rockstar life) or it may be traveling Europe on a motorcycle or scuba diving in Australia or hanging out with Paris Hilton at LAX in Las Vegas.

Your rockstar life is your ideal life.

So with all that in mind, who better to have your picture taken with than a rock star, Gene Simmons. This guy has created so many passive income streams in his life that we don't even think he can keep count of them all.

His KISS rock star logo is on everything....from condoms to coffins as he likes to put it. I guess that covers almost everything!

Real Estate investing isn't always a smooth process. There are ups and downs along the way.

And when you're in the middle of one of the "storms" its easy to forget why you are doing it. What better way to keep focus than to pull out a picture of you standing next to Gene Simmons in full make-up as a little reminder.

Listen up. When financing investment properties most investors makes the same mistakes. This is important and it is the most common situation I see beginning real estate investors get themselves in.

You go out and get pre-approved by your mortgage broker for an investment property mortgage in Canada.

They give you the thumbs up and tell you to go out and purchase your first investment property.

You are excited that you have begun your wealth creation journey. And you should be...real estate is a proven vehicle to build wealth.

You then go and find a Real Estate Agent that knows something about investing in real estate, you spend weeks finding the perfect property and you finally make the purchase.

Then it happens...

Closing day approaches and your mortgage broker rings you up with something like this...

“Hey, I’ve got some updates. Apparently I can’t actually get that mortgage program that we spoke of a few weeks ago. Don’t worry, you will still be able to purchase the investment property but you’ll need to put down 10% instead of 5% and the interest rate on the mortgage is going to be 7.8% instead of 5.9%.”

Now you’ve got problems. You need to magically come up with more cash, your Return on Investment will change drastically and your monthly cash flow on the property will go from a positive to a negative.

Let the scrambling begin!

You call your agent, who will likely not have many options for you, you call another broker, who doesn’t have enough time before closing to save you and you then call your mom asking to borrow money to save this deal from falling apart. Not fun, not funny.
